MBTA Awards and Scholarships
All MBTA Members, unless they request otherwise, contribute $2 per month to the MBTA scholarship fund. That fund is distributed each year between the two scholarships listed below. The awards below are also given out each year based on member nominations.
Scholarships
MBTA Member-Dependent Scholarship
Due March 31st, 2025
This scholarship is for members who are the parent or guardian of a graduating senior this year. The scholarship money will be divided between those who meet the criteria and has historically varied between $1,000 and $3,000 per student. The application can be found here and the educator recommendation form each student must have submitted is here.
MBTA Education Scholarship
Due by April 3rd, 2025
Chosen by our HS Counselors, this scholarship goes to a graduating senior who is pursuing further education with the goal of improving our local community. For 2024-2025 this in in the amount of $2,000 given to one senior at each of our four high schools.

Mary C Owens Human Rights Award
Due January 23rd, 2025
This is for any current or past member who has demonstrated an ongoing, consistent and far reaching commitment to the support and furtherance of human rights. You can read more about Mary C. Owens here. For 2024-2025 this award is closed.
Sam Alley Award
Chosen by BoD
This award, chosen by the Board of Directors, is to a member who has dedicated much of their career to achieving the goals of MBTA.
Service Recognition Award
Due Wed. April 2nd, 2025
This award, chosen by members of MBTA, can go to any Site Rep or elected representative of MBTA whose work that year deserves recognition. The form to nominate an association leader is here.
Friend of Education Award
Due Wed. April 2nd, 2025
This award, chosen by members of MBTA, goes to community members who have donated their time or resources to bettering the lives of our students and/or educators. The nomination form can be found here.
